Learn more information about how to vote on a proposal via the Polkadot.js extension. For the ERC-20 EFI voting, please check this guide instead.
Required Resources
- Before proceeding, it's important to make sure that the wallet which you wish to vote with is accessible through the Polkadot{.js} extension in your browser. Without the wallet, you cannot vote on a proposal.
- You must also ensure that your Polkadot{.js} is configured to allow use on any chain rather than a specific chain.
- If you see “Polkadot” or any other chain name next to your wallet, it means that your Polkadot{.js} wallet is configured only to allow use on that chain, which means the Enjin Console will not be able to use or even recognize that wallet.
The left image shows "Polkadot" on the upper right section of the wallet, indicating that the Enjin Console will not recognize this wallet. The right image shows the correct configuration - no chain is displayed next to the wallet, and the Enjin Console can use and recognize this wallet.
Setting your Polkadot{.js} to work with the Enjin Blockchain Console
First, let's make sure the wallet is set to allow use on any chain, so it will be configured correctly to be used with the Enjin Blockchain Console:
- Open the Polkadot{.js} extension on your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.).
- Click the 3-dot menu where you see your account/wallet. A pop-up should appear.
- Open the drop-down menu at the bottom of the pop-up and select ”Allow use on any chain”.
How to vote on a proposal
Now that your wallet is correctly set up and configured to work with the Enjin Blockchain Console, it’s time to vote on a proposal.
1. First, head over to the Enjin Blockchain Console page: console.enjin.io.
2. After the Enjin Blockchain Console page successfully loads on your browser, on the menu bar, navigate to “Governance,” and select “Democracy”.
3. Locate the proposal you wish to vote on in the referenda section and click on "Vote" to the right of the proposal.
4. A box will show up with voting options:
4.1. Select the account you wish to vote with.
4.2. Select the amount of EFI you wish to vote with.
4.3. Select the conviction.
Please note, your EFI will be locked for the duration you choose.
The longer you are willing to lock your EFI tokens, the stronger your vote will be weighted.
4.4. After filling all the options, click "Vote Nay" to vote against the proposal, or "Vote Aye" to vote for the proposal.
4.5. Review your vote options. Once you are happy with your choice, click "Sign and Submit" to vote.
4.6. A transaction pop-up will appear asking you to sign the transaction. Fill in your wallet password and click “Sign the transaction.”
Congratulations, you have successfully casted your vote!
How to unlock locked voting tokens
Once the referendum is over and lock on the tokens used to vote is expired, the funds needs to be manually unlocked so that they can be free to use.
1. First, head over to the Enjin Blockchain Console page: console.enjin.io.
2. After the Enjin Blockchain Console page successfully loads on your browser, on the menu bar, navigate to “Accounts,” and select “Accounts”.
3. Locate the account you used to vote with and wish to unlock the locked tokens for.
4. Click on the 3 dots (⋮) next to that account, then click on "Clear expired democracy locks"
5. Make sure the correct account is used to sign the transaction, then click on "Sign and Submit".
6. A transaction pop-up will appear asking you to sign the transaction. Fill in your wallet password and click “Sign the transaction.”
After a couple seconds, the transaction will be approved and your locked funds will be unlocked and free to use.
